Instant Results: Fly-tipping tackled at Reading BC

Updated: Jan 14, 2021

This is a fine example of a robust and clear strategy to combat environmental crime with the help of our state of the art, rapidly deployable, IOT-based cameras. This product is available for purchase from our partner Vodafone.

We are pleased that the new Vodafone Smart Wireless Camera equipment installed at Kensington Road (Reading, Berkshire) is having such an immediate positive impact. The local Borough Council have reported (and via the Reading Chronicle and BerkshireLive) an incredible 57 fixed penalties issued at this site since the cameras were installed, 27 of these generated from captured footage.

“We will not tolerate environmental crime and are working hard to identify and prosecute those who commit it"

Adele Barnett-Ward, RBC’s lead member for Neighbourhoods and Communities, said: “The majority of Reading’s residents value having a clean and tidy town and dispose of their waste responsibly.
